Ahoy, Me Hearties! Our topic this term, in Reception, is Pirates on An Adventure! Our activities in the classroom are all about pirates! We have been having so much fun, learning lots of new and exciting things.
Yazmin used her phonic skills to sort the treasure words and fake words into the correct treasure boxes!
Maddie and Abdulai enjoyed designing their own pirate ships and labelling them.
Ruby, Elissa, Billie-Jo and Lilly-Rose used the numicon and maths symbols to make addition sentences. They told me that when adding the number will get bigger. They knew to find the answer they had to add both numbers together. Fantastic work girls!
Take a look at some of the other activities we have enjoyed doing this week.
Last week in Reception, both Foxes and Hedgehogs went to church to take part in the Christingle Church Service with the Key Stage 1.
We sang some songs, we lit the candles in the Christingle oranges and learnt about the meaning of the Christingle orange. Some children were then given certificates for the art work they gave to the church earlier in December. Then a special guest appeared! Santa!
He handed out envelopes to children from each class and they had little Christmas tree decorations inside!
We received special certificates from Vision for fantastic reading and 1005 attendance for the half term.
Here are the lucky winners!
Miss Mclean awarded reading superstar stickers to children in Foxes class for their fantastic reading at home and in school.
This weeks reading superstars are:
-Mololuwa Akin- Jaiyeoba
Fantastic reading at home! Keep it up superstars!
In Craft Club, with Mrs Latham, we made calendars. We listened really carefully to the instructions given my Mrs Latham. She told us we needed to use our fingers to scrunch up different coloured tissue paper to make beautiful flowers . It was really tricky getting the different colours inside of one another!
We have had so much fun in craft club this term!
