End of the school year

Well, it has been a fun filled fantastic year with Italy class.

We started the year with Roald Dahl’s The BFG, and a trip to the cinema to watch the recent remake, I know Miss Hunter and I enjoyed it possibly more than the children.

At trip to Park Museum, started out Victorian topic and the children really enjoyed dressing up.  Over the year we have been very lucky to have Tees Valley Music Services in school, we started the year with ukulele and ended with drumming. Mrs Wilson and Mr Briscoe have shared their PE expertise with the children and they have really enjoyed the PE lessons this year.

We have also enjoyed visits to Kirkleatham Museum to look at the Anglo Saxon exhibition and to end the year with our attendance money we visited Ropner Park and Redcar seafront.

We have see the school change over the year, from new floors, painted walls, fire pits and wooded reading areas, to library double decker buses. We are very lucky to have such a lovely school and grounds.

I personally have enjoyed the Open Mornings and having the parents in school, seeing how the staff and children work together as part of the Oak Tree family. I will never forget the faces of the children when we did our Big Bang Food Tasting activity, they weren’t keen on the Marmite or the Honey, but strangely they enjoyed the chocolate and crisps!

There are so many memories we have made in Italy class over the year, that I could be here typing till midnight. I would like to take this opportunity to Thank all the children for their hard work over the year and Thank you to all the parents, and staff at the school for their support. The Oak Tree Academy will always have a special place in my heart and I shall be checking all the blogging from the other side of the world.

Keep up the hard work Year 4

World Book Day /Bright Futures Week; ‘ Kids work hard too’

Earth class children have been thinking about what jobs they want to do in the future. However they also said that being a school child is also a challenging job.

So as part of world poetry day they wrote a poem about all the different jobs they have to do while at school.

Our teachers always say

“that they have jobs to do”

but School kids work hard too!

We have to read every day.

We have to do our SATs in May

School kids work hard too!

Our handwriting has to be neat

We drum loudly to the beat

School kids work hard too!

Every day we have spellings to say.

On computers we work and play

School kids work hard too!

In maths we do take-aways and add

Our behaviour can’t be bad

School kids work hard too!

In DT and art we stick and make

Chocolate muffins in cookery we bake

School kids work hard too!

Yes we work really hard

Before we can play on the yard.

School kids work hard too!

Bright Futures’

Today Y6 had an amazing morning as part of our Bright Futures week in school. The children learnt valuable team building skills, collaboration skills and what it means to work in a small business.

Congratulations to the winning group who managed a profit of over £700 this morning.  Through consistent team work, excellent attention to detail, and superb tidy working practices they achieved a fantastic result.
